Oregonian Live Interview With Harry Esteve

February 20, 2014

February Newsletter

I am from Portland, but for Oregon.

It has been twenty-five years since the Republicans have held the office of Governor. During that time, Democrats have continued to make in-roads in the population areas of the state, but have failed to bring economic prosperity to the majority of Oregonians.

Problems continue to slow us down. From Cover Oregon, Columbia River Crossing, to PERS, and many others. Oregon has to change.

We need a new direction. One based on all Oregonians working together to make our future better than our past. From Pendleton to Eugene, from Bend to Portland, and to all towns in our great state, let's start the future today.

Thank you,

Tim Carr

Campaign Announcement

My name is Tim Carr and I want to be your next Governor for the wonderful state of Oregon. I know your time is valuable, so I will keep this short.

After a heart attack nearly claimed my life, my wife’s mantra took on new meaning.

‘Don’t wait until it’s too late’...

For me, truer words have never been spoken.

Now...I’m not going to sit here and talk about having an epiphany because I don’t want to make this about me...nor do I want to imply that people need to be faced with disaster before they can change. Not at all.

But unless you think that Oregon is perfect the way it is, I think there is a better way to run this state...and I would argue that it’s time for Oregon to make a change.

Without a doubt, the people of this state have the intelligence and wherewithal to come together...look at all the facts...and come up with sustainable solutions that will benefit everyone. And for me, that’s what politics is all about. But I don’t want to sit here and wait until politicians have a change of heart... because I am afraid by then it will be too late... and I made a promise to my wife and family to never do that again.

I see too much divisiveness and hateful rhetoric to believe our leaders want what’s best for everyone. I see too many special interest groups with unfair advantages. I see too many one sided deals that continue to foster divisiveness. I see a whole lot of fighting and arguing...but not enough problem solving and action. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think we have a winning strategy in place; at least not one with Oregon’s best interest at heart. In fact, I fear (like many of you) that we have no strategy at all.

As an entrepreneur, I have never seen a business succeed without a winning strategy. I’ve also never seen a business prosper when finger pointing and name calling surpass productivity. But that’s precisely what I see happening to Oregon. I would argue that it’s time for Oregon to make a change.

Look, we’re not always going to agree...and just because you disagree with someone doesn’t mean they are against you. But as Oregonians...like it or not...we’re already on the same team.

I know that when people are willing to work together, change happens on it’s own. But the one thing you can’t do is ignore the facts. Running the state of Oregon is like running a special business; which is why we need to elect leaders who recognize that we are all on the same team. We’re Oregonians, and we all want what’s best for Oregon.

I will leave you with this...

I believe Oregon is the greatest state in the country. I was born and raised in Portland and have experienced everything Oregon has to offer. But I think...based on my life experience...that Oregon has yet to reach it’s full potential. And the only thing I know...beyond a shadow of a doubt, is that Oregon will never get there unless we start electing people who are committed to working together. I urge you to take my wife’s advice...don’t wait until it’s too late.

Please vote for me, Tim Carr...as a Republican who’s agenda is only to make Oregon better for everyone. We may not always agree, but we can always find some common ground. Thank you in advance to all those willing to meet me there...

God Bless. Be Safe. Stay Positive!
